Day To Day Itinerary

After a scenic two-hour drive east from Ulaanbaatar, we’ll arrive at the rugged splendor of the Khentii Mountains. Here, forested hills roll beneath dramatic granite outcrops, and the landscape is alive with the quiet rhythms of nomadic life—families tending herds of yaks, goats, cattle, and horses offer a living portrait of Mongolia’s enduring pastoral heritage. Our journey begins in Terelj National Park, home to the towering Genghis Khan Monument. This gleaming aluminum statue of the famed conqueror on horseback invites visitors to ascend to a lookout on the horse’s head, offering panoramic views of the boundless Mongolian steppe.
The park’s rich tapestry of natural and cultural landmarks continues to unfold: the peaceful Aryaval Monastery, a hidden retreat nestled in the hills, and the curious Turtle Rock, a natural granite formation shaped like its namesake. In the late afternoon, we’ll share a traditional lunch with a local nomadic family, experiencing their warm hospitality firsthand. Energized, we’ll set off on a two-hour bike ride through lush meadows, eventually reaching the Tuul River valley. There, we’ll set up our first wilderness camp. From this site, we embark on a mountain biking adventure through rugged foothills and vast valleys, exploring landscapes reminiscent of Siberia—tundra, moose habitats, and boreal forests rich in wildlife. We may spot deer, wolf tracks, and possibly moose or bears.
As we ascend to higher elevations, the trail offers challenges and rewards, framed by dense woodlands and stunning views of Mongolia's pristine landscape. We will camp in the wild, surrounded by silence, a crackling fire, and a star-filled sky, deepening our connection to the land.
